Joan Moss, RN, MSN, MSCP obtained her Associate Degree in Nursing in 1981 from Galveston College and began her career in the newborn nursery at St. Mary’s Hospital (now Rebecca Sealy). She subsequently transitioned to post-partum nursing at the Texas Medical Center in Houston before working as a staff nurse in Labor and Delivery at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, Texas.
After almost 20 years in obstetrics, Nurse Moss completed the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at The University of Texas Medical Branch’s (UTMB) School of Nursing in 2002 with High Honors. A Master of Science in Nursing from UTMB followed in 2004 and certified her as a Women’s Healthcare Nurse Practitioner.
Nurse Moss worked as a Women’s Healthcare Specialist co-managing high-risk pregnancies at UTMB. She then became the research coordinator for the Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit at UTMB and transitioned to the position of director of the department.
Following her tenure at UTMB, Nurse Moss joined the nursing faculty at Galveston College to encourage and educate students in providing compassionate and competent care for all women.
Nurse Moss and her husband, Chuck, have two children, four grandchildren, and two granddogs. She loves traveling, cycling, surfing, and working in her garden.
